Thanksgiving Events

Have you finalized your Thanksgiving plans yet? If not, don't worry. Whether you're looking for a delicious celebratory dinner, an opportunity to give back, or just something fun to do on the big day, Charleston has you covered. Here are a few of the Thanksgiving events our real estate agents are most excited for this year.

Tuck Into Thanksgiving Dinner at The Charleston Place

Address: 130 Market Street, Charleston, SC 29401

Experience Thanksgiving dinner like never before with The Charleston Place's fine dining spin on the classic holiday meal. This event's prix fixe menu was painstakingly crafted by New York chef Daniel Humm and includes four courses:

  • Buttered bread and velouté
  • A fresh seasonal salad
  • Roast turkey or honey nut squash and an assortment of sides
  • Your choice of seasonal dessert

This special dinner costs $195 per person, excluding drinks and the optional pasta course. Reservations are required, and dressing up is encouraged.

Volunteer at One80 Place

Address: 35 Walnut Street, Charleston, SC 29403

One80 Place is Charleston's leading non-profit organization working to end food insecurity and homelessness. You can help them in their mission by volunteering to serve hot Thanksgiving meals in their Community Kitchen. You'll heat and prepare food, distribute it to people in need, and help make sure that no one feels alone on this special day.

You can sign up to volunteer on Thanksgiving Day on the organization's website. Note that holiday spots fill up fast: if you can't get a spot on Thanksgiving itself, consider signing up for a different date instead. You'll still be celebrating the spirit of the holiday, and the kitchen will love having extra hands available during less popular volunteering periods.

Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble 5K

Address: 329 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29403

Charleston's annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble 5K is the third-largest Thanksgiving Day run in the country. Starting in Marion Square, you'll run or walk along a pre-set path running through downtown Charleston.

The event starts at 9AM and wraps up around 1PM, giving you plenty of time to head home and enjoy your Thanksgiving feast.

There are three different runs available:

  • 5K Run and Walk
  • Virtual 5K
  • Kids Fun Run

Costs vary depending on when you sign up and which run you choose, and there are awards for top finishers in each category. All proceeds go toward supporting local charities over the next year.

Visit the Holiday Festival of Lights

Address: 871 Riverland Drive, Charleston, SC 29412

While it's technically not a Thanksgiving event, James Island County Park's Festival of Lights is open on Thanksgiving and makes a great nighttime outing after your big meal. You'll get to stroll through the park while it's decorated with lights and holiday ornaments, enjoy the carousel and climbing wall, watch exciting live performances, and shop for treats and trinkets in Santa's Village.

The festival runs from 5:30PM to 10PM on Thanksgiving Day. Tickets are $25 per vehicle if purchased online or $35 per vehicle if purchased at the gate.

Attend the Thanksgiving Buffet at Edmund's Original

Address: 1081 Morrison Drive, Charleston, SC 29403

Edmund's Original knows how powerful good food can be – especially on special occasions. That's why they host their yearly Thanksgiving Buffet for those who don't want to cook their own holiday meal. This sumptuous spread includes:

  • Classic Thanksgiving dishes like roast turkey and cranberry sauce
  • A selection of the restaurant's most popular general menu items
  • Coffee and specially paired wines

The buffet is available from 11AM to 7PM on November 27th only. It costs $55 for adults or $25 for kids under 12. Reservations are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome as space allows.
