End-of-Summer Fun: Lowcountry Events and Activities This August
Summer might be on its way out, but the good times are still going here in the Lowcountry. - Mount Pleasant Farmers Market - 645 Coleman Boulevard, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464
The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is a beloved local tradition that began all the way back in 1998. This year, it runs every Tuesday from 3:30 PM to 7 PM at the dedicated farmers market pavilion downtown. Expect to see dozens of Mount Pleasant vendors selling fresh local produce and other farm-fresh foods like meat, eggs, and honey. August's in-season produce includes vegetables like beans, peas, lettuce, kale, and eggplants, as well as juicy fruits like peaches, raspberries, and watermelon. - Town of Kiawah Island Bites and Brews - 4475 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Kiawah Island, SC 29455
Town of Kiawah Island Bites and Brews is a mini festival showcasing the town's many excellent restaurants and breweries. August's event is set for the 15th and will run from 11 AM to 2 PM in front of Town Hall. Head over there and treat yourself to some lunch and summer sips at the many stalls and food trucks that will be set up around the area. There will be live entertainment for you to enjoy while you eat, and you'll walk away with a deeper appreciation for this area's vibrant culinary community. - Lowcountry Jazz Festival - 95 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401
2025's Lowcountry Jazz Festival is set to run from August 29th to 31st at the Charleston Gaillard Center. This ticketed event features performances from Eric Darius on the 29th, Bob James and KEM on the 30th, and Boney James and jazz fusion group Pieces of a Dream on the 31st. You can buy tickets online on the center's website starting at $79.56 per seat. The show begins at 7 PM each night and lasts around two hours. - Tides & Tunes Weekend - 1 Tarpon Blvd., Fripp Island, SC 29920
Make your way to Fripp Island for the annual Tides & Tunes Weekend from August 15th to the 17th. This weekend event combines live music, local food vendors, and family-friendly fun on the beautiful waterfront. Festivities kick off Friday evening and continue until Sunday afternoon, featuring regional musicians and Lowcountry flavors. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and settle in for a weekend of great tunes and coastal breezes.
- Edisto Beach Movies in the Park - 42 Station Court, Edisto Island, SC 29438
Edisto Beach Movies in the Park is a free community event that normally takes place at Bay Creek Park on Edisto Island. On August 15th, however, it'll be held indoors at the Edisto Beach Civic Center. The doors open at 7:15 PM, and the movie (in this case, Disney's 2024 release Mufasa) will begin around one hour later. There is no seating available, but you're encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, pillows, snacks, or whatever else you need to settle down and get comfy.
